A Virtual Prototype for Fast Design and Visualization of Gerotor Pumps

In the context of generation lubrication flows, gear pumps are widely used, with gerotor-type being specially popular, given their low cost, high compactness, and reliability. The design process gerotor requires simulation fluid dynamics phenomena that characterize displacement by pump. Designers researchers mainly rely on these methods: (i) computational (CFD) (ii) lumped parameter models. CFD methods accurate in predicting behavior pump, at expense large computing resources time. On other hand, Lumped Parameter models fast they do not require software, diminished accuracy. Usually, is mounted specialized black-box visual programming platforms. resulting pressures flow rates then fed to software. response current status, this manuscript reports a virtual prototype be used Digital Twin tool. Our approach: (1) integrates pump design, approximate simulation, result visualization processes, (2) does an external numerical solver platforms for model, (3) allows performance using sensor data feed (4) compares simulated vs. imported operational data. results show good agreement between our prediction CFD-based simulations actual Future work required rotor micro-movements cavitation effects, as well further integration physical software
